Dr. Tran Bao Toan was born and grew up in Vietnam but spent 25 years living, learning and working in Switzerland. He used to be a senior financial expert and had worked for 12 years at prestigious Swiss and Luxembourg banks such as Credit Suisse, Banque General du Luxembourg, and AKB in the field of fund management, investment banking and private banking. He came back to live and work in his home country in 2005. At first he served as a banking consultant for the Swiss Government in official assistance projects helping the Vietnamese Government to re-structure its financial system. Currently, Dr. Toan is also one of the Founders and Partners of Viet Capital Fund Management Company and Viet Capital Securities Company.
In his academic activities, Dr. Toan is a Portfolio Partner for the Leadership and Human Resource Management (I.F.P.M) with focus in Financial Services Governance of University of St. Gallen in Switzerland, and at the same time a lecturer at the National University – School of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City in corporate finance, fund management and corporate evaluation.
Dr. Toan majored in banking and financial management at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland and earned his Master Degree there. He then completed his doctoral thesis on “Analysis of the Vietnamese Banking Sector with special reference to Corporate Governance” at the Graduate School of Business Management, University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.
